10 great eats in OKC

Food in OKCOklahoma City is hosting the AQHA World Championship Show, November 5-21. Many of you have attended this event in the past. However, we think you’ll find OKC looks a bit different this time!

Due to rapid growth and urban development in the last year, the city offers a host of restaurants and activities. This year, we’d like to challenge you to get out of the culinary rut and explore OKC’s eateries.

1. The Mule

Located in the Plaza District, this is a sandwich shop with a twist. Be sure to try the much-loved, Macaroni Pony, made of jalapeño cornbread, pulled pork, and mac and cheese. The Mule is known for hot melts and cold beer!

2. Ingrid’s Kitchen

Since 1977, Ingrid’s Kitchen has been serving up German comfort food. If you’re in the mood for bratwurst and schnitzel, they have you covered. Every Sunday from 9:30 am to 2:00 pm, the restaurant lays out a spread with their brunch buffet. Get there early. They fill up fast.

3. Kamps 1910 Café

Located in a historic Midtown building, Kamps serves up fresh salads, sandwiches and soups. Need breakfast instead? Kamps has you covered on that, too. The restaurant offers delicious omelets, quiche, and breakfast sandwiches.

Location: 10 N.E. 10th St.

4. Go Go Sushi

This restaurant is a Sushi lover’s dream. From signature rolls, to amazing tempuras, they’ve got it all. Want to try it all? Ask for one of their Bento boxes. In the mood for a great Sushi roll? Try the Crunchy Crab.

Location: 432 N.W. 10th St.

5. Flint

Looking for an upscale place for lunch or dinner? Then get to Flint! This downtown restaurant boasts an amazing menu of salad, pasta, seafood and steak. Their Brown Sugar-Seared Colorado Lamb Chop will make you glad you stopped by.

Location: 15 N. Robinson Ave.

6. 1492 New World Latin

If you’re needing some spice in your life, 1492 New World Latin has it. Offering creative combinations on Mexican classics, the restaurant will wow you. Try the Avocado Chimichurri Ribeye. You’ll be glad you did!

7. Anchor Down

For a meal of a different sort, head over to Anchor Down. This restaurant is known for craft beer and gourmet corn dogs. No kidding! And the food isn’t the only thing different. The location is amazing. Try a Roger Dog with a Steam Roller!

8. The Bleu Garten

OKC just got cooler! The Bleu Garten is an outdoor restaurant, where you can select from a wide variety of food truck fare. These aren’t your everyday food trucks, either! Choose between everything from Buttermilk Southern Sliders to St. Paddy Cakes.

9. Empire Slice House

For this Midtown Pizzeria, the slogan is, “It’s like Frank Sinatra and David Bowie had a pizza baby.” And they aren’t joking! With pizzas like Evil Empire and Notorious P.I.G., there’s something for everyone.

Location: 1734 N.W. 16th St.

10. Flips Wine Bar & Trattoria

This casual Italian eatery has been an Oklahoma City staple since 1985. Flips has an amazing menu including Smokin’ Italian Mac and Cheese and Frutti di Mare. You’ll love the location and atmosphere.

Location: 5801 N. Western Ave.
